I'm sure this kind of business has probably been around for a hot minute so it ain't new, but this is actually the first time I've came across a site like this. Bag Borrow or Steal (http://www.bagborroworsteal.com/) is a website company that let's it's costumers "borrow/rent" designer bags for a monthly fee as well as jewelry & other accessories. The fee depending on what kind of piece you are renting which is categorized into 4 collections. The pricier the designer bag the more hefty the fee. & if you decide that you can't be parted ways with your beloved, you can buy it as well.
Initially, my first thought was how unsatisfying it is that you can only rent the item. I find it much more fufilling when you've spent good money on a pricey piece and have the pleasure of owning it. There is no pleasure in parting ways with something you've fallen for yet don't have the moolah to quite afford (think their $ couture collection $). Maybe you feel good about your item for that brief moment you've borrowed it but sooner or later it's got to go back, right? I'd rather save up & buy it for myself if that's the case. Although, I was a bit tempted after viewing their collection to give it try. Bag after bag, that little itch I get inside when I find something too iresistable to pass. Still, fab idea for girlies who want to flaunt but don't have the cash to quite afford. Hey, better than buying knock-offs, right? right.
I was hoping this was an actual Nike shoe but to my sheer dissapointment it is only but a concept design made for a tee. Cute, cute graphic t-shirt nonetheless from INSA (http://insaland.com/blog/?page_id=26). OK, but seriously though, Nike, please take note & come out with sneaker stiletto line for the ladies because that would be sick. What's better than combining the two in the ultimate sexy yet sporty shoe? Brilliant I tell ya. I don't think I've ever fawned over something more since the infamous Manolo Blahnik Tims that blew up a few years ago. You know i'll be in line to cop a pair of these for sure (If only they were real!)
I would LOVE to spend the rest of my days in PHILIPPINES because it's where I truly feel at home & at ease. But that would be irrational. I HAVE to live in the states for the purposes of making money. You could be doing the same job that you do in P.I. & work even harder at it & won't even come close to the pay you get for that job in the states. I do feel very much blessed & privileged to be living in this country. I don't know where I'd be if I wasn't. I would hate to be in a life living paycheck to paycheck, spending hard-earned cash on basic living neccessities only, & having to live in a bad neighborhood, in poor living conditions, living under the same roof with 2-3 of my siblings & their how many children. I know how that can be.
You learn to appreciate what you have so much more when you get to experience things from the other end of the spectrum.
But for those who have never been to the country or those who know little to nothing about the people, places, & culture of the Philippines, it's not completely 3rd world country poor. My mother's co-worker once made a generalizing question asking her if we lived in a hut & belonged to a tribe which I found a little offensive. We are already a very modernized/westernized country & society, just some places not so much as others.

I leave for the Philippines today. I would've mentioned it earlier but I haven't been on the computer since my last post. But yeah as matter-of-factly as that sounds I really am excited about the trip. I'll be there for a good 3 weeks if not more. I'll def. make the mostest of my vaca. When I have the time I'll visit a internet cafe and keep this blog posted about it...'Til then.
Here's some pics from Vaca 2006. I'll be posting pics from this year's trip when I get back:
